Butatron Bimeda 100 tablets
Butatron Bimeda 100 tablets, Anti-inflammatory activity in musculoskeletal conditions in dogs and horses, such as arthritis, osteoarthritis and inflammation due to invertebral disc syndrome in dogs. Provides relief in less than 24 hours, safe and effective.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Dogs: orally administer 20mg per .453 kg of body weight daily in 3 divided doses. Do not exceed 800mg daily regardless of body weight.
Horses: Orally administer 1-2 tablets per 226 kg of live weight, do not exceed 4 tablets daily.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Phenylbutazone should not be administered in animals with severe liver, kidney or heart disease, or those with a history of blood disorders.
WARNING
THE FENYLBUTAZONE SHOULD NOT BE ADMINISTERED TO ANIMALS PRODUCING MEAT, EGGS OR MILK, THIS BECAUSE THE RESIDUE STATUS OF THE REMNANT OF THE DRUG IN EDIBLE TISSUE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED.
DOSE – HORSES ORALLY
1-2 grams per 226.5 Kilos of body weight, do not exceed 4 grams daily.
ADMINISTRATION
1. Use a relatively high dose for the first 48 hours, then gradually reduce to a fixed dose. Maintain the minimum dose capable of producing the clinically desired response.
2. In some cases the tablets may be ground and supplied with food. Reduce the dose if symptoms subside. In some cases, treatment should be given only when symptoms appear without the need for continuous medication.
3.In animals, phenylbutazone is mostly metabolized within 8 hours. It is recommended that one third of the daily dose be administered in 8 hour intervals.
4. Many chronic conditions can respond to treatment with phenylbutazone, but when treatment is discontinued, symptoms can reappear.
