Peripheral vasodilator agent. It is considered a beta 2-adrenoreceptor agonist with antagonistic activity at alpha-adrenoceptors. It is known to work by causing a blockage of alpha 1 adrenoceptors. Isoxuprin is a selective stimulant of beta 2 receptors, causing dilation of the peripheral blood vessels of skeletal muscle. This action greatly improves digital blood circulation and laminar perfusion. Increases the relaxation of palmar veins and arteries. It also significantly increases the temperature of the equine’s limbs in its distal portion.
