PISADOL® is a product made from tramadol hydrochloride, a synthetic opioid used in canines and felines, available in oral and injectable presentations. It is a centrally acting analgesic that relieves pain by acting on specific nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain; effective in the treatment of moderate to severe pain with low addictive potential.
INDICATIONS: It is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe pain in various etiologies. Due to its low cardiorespiratory depression in the treatment of postsurgical pain, it can be recommended as a drug of first choice for postoperative pain, replacing morphine. In the treatment of chronic pain, it is used in cases of osteoarthritis and other neuropathic pain such as post-amputation syndrome or “phantom limb”, as well as in refractory cancer pain. It is also used for the treatment of pain in acute trauma, muscle aches, visceral pain in general, and urological syndromes in dogs and cats. Tramadol represents the best therapeutic weapon for the control of chronic cancer pain without the adverse effects of narcotics. The combination of tramadol with NSAIDs (such as carprofen, meloxicam and ketorolac) produces a highly effective analgesic effect.
